I've followed the Amanda Knox/Meredith Kercher (lest us not forget) case since it's fate began in 2007. I couldn't help but feel overjoyed for Knox's appeal, and could empathize with her overwhelming reaction when she heard the verdict, considering she could have served either another 22 years or even a life term (Italy would have even considered death if legal), so far away from her family. It made me reflect on so many levels; how truly blessed we are to live in America and have our judicial system (despite that we can feel our judicial system has failed plenty of times before). Also, at times, how shocking the accusations and investigations by the prosecutors, judges, jury, and really all of Great Britain and Europe. Never having been to Italy myself, I would have at least suspected that it being a European, developed nation, (I suppose to mean not third nation), that the process and outcomes of this case would have more closely simulated that of the American system. I don't want to ramble specifically about this case, but more so that may it serve as a reminder to always be cautious, instinctual, not naive, and to play it safe when traveling abroad. Because, you never know when you may be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Not of which any one may prevent.

Gabby,

I followed it a bit, but she seemed to be into some crazy stuff and put herself at risk. I think the American system really is no different, it just targets different people. the best way to stay safe abroad is to keep to yourself and be respectable to all those you meet in order not to offend anyone.

wrong place/time could happen anywhere!
