Post 3: treasure in the pot by G

2011 is a month in the books, which means I am a mere ten away from dropping all of my everyday worries and dilemmas for a temporary escape and spiritual journey to the South with J<3.

Post 2: Tentative schedule subject to change by G

Colombia - Nov 12th thru Nov 21st
Ecuador - Nov 22nd thru Nov 29th
Peru - Nov 30 thru Dec 10 (cross at Lago Titicaca)
Bolivia - Dec 11 thru Dec 22 (cross at Salar de Uyuni)
Chile - Dec 23 thru Jan 1 (Cross at Tiega Del Fuego)
Argentina - Jan 2 thru Jan 20 (ferry from Buenos Aires to Montevideo)
Uruguay - Jan 21 thru Jan 28th (fly from Monte to Asuncion)
Paraguay - Jan 29 thru Feb 4th (cross at Igaucu Falls if possible)
Brazil - Feb 5th thru Feb 20th
Venezuela - Feb 21st thru fin.

If this plan is followed, my 26th birthday would be spent in Bolivia, Christmas and New Years would be celebrated in Chile, and Valentines Day and Carnivale would be in Brazil.

I have left plenty of time for Argentina because I plan on taking a break for rest and relaxation half way through the adventure. I had considered possibly renting a home for a week or more in Patagonia, or possibly an apartment in Buenos Aires. I am also considering cutting short some of the time in Venezuela because my only solid plan there is to see Angel Falls before departing for home.

In my opinion, this would be the most feasible plan for accomplishing the goal.

Post 1: The Idea by G

11/12/11 (after my beautiful sisters weddin') to 2/28/12

The plan this year is to save a bunch of money, plan, and then when time comes, drop everything and head southward on an adventure around the South American continent over the span of a little under four months. Hopefully with some dedication and will power the idea will be achieved.
I am starting this blog to help me track the progression of the planning of the trip, and then hopefully the trip itself. I have made the mistake over the past few years while traveling of not properly recording my experiences. Eleven months is plenty of time to practice.

There will be updates soon about the timeline and a basic itinerary. Until then, adios amigos.
