Post 17: UPDATED AGAIN: Updated Itinerary by G+J

details after the break! (6/23 updates in red)
We have drastically (yet again!) altered our plans to save money and extend our adventure (within a 4 to 5 month timeframe), thus furthering our immersion.
Of note:
  • We have changed our point of entry into Colombia to the city of Cúcuta, do to its accessibility to Cartegena and relative use as a tourist stop through.
  • Disappointed by the lack of time in Argentina, we have extended our journey there. (we have changed this yet again to save a little money and time, we will now enter Argentina from Santiago to Mendoza, then head south, Flying north to Ushuaia. We need to book our tickets for this ASAP as they are apparently hard to come by in the high season. This can be an advantage to us in a way, keeping in check with a "checkpoint" in essence. Also, if certain someones are looking to meet us in South America, this would be a good starting point for planning that! In changing this we have taken our Cordoba and Rosaria for our route, unfortunate, but necessary)
  • We have taken Paraguay out of the mix, seeing it as a waste of our time and resources. (this remains the same, though I must acknowledge the fact that we will be able to easily enter Paraguay from Iguazu if we choose to do so! This of course, is time permitting.)
  • A few extra stops have been added into Chile as well (Valley of the Moon, etc.), as we have heard many great things from friends. (sadly we will not be going to Porto Montt, as the Argentinian side is more convenient and time saving)
  • From Montevideo we will now head around the coast through coastal communities until we hit Choi on the border of Brazil,  from there we go to Porto Alegre, then Igauzu Falls (this remains, and excites us!)
  • and onto Curitiba Brazil en route to Rio. We are unsure of our route yet between Rio and Belem, but thankfully we have time to work on that still. (We have decided to go straight from Rio to Belem, skipping the middle of Brazil for the sake of a boat ride down the Amazon.)
  • French Guiana is now our theorized exit point. From Belem, we will travel thru the border by boat and then head onto the capital city of Cayenne, which has an airport connection with Miami. (as of our furthest discussion, this remains a possibility, though we have discussed other points of departure, including Cuba, given of course, again, that time and money permits.)
  • Also of note is that we have decided to be less arbitrary about our time and let the road be the clock, within reason that is (home by April 1 at the very latest).
  • Buying airfare August 17th, no turning back then. Philadelphia to Orlando, Miami to Caracas. and Ushuaia to Beunos Aires somewhere in the mid January time frame.)
